Questionnaire Summary

After getting 100 responses to my questionnaire it has become obvious what kind of audience I should be aiming at. Generally adults said that they would not consider buying a magazine whereas fairly often the younger audience responded more positively, saying they probably or definitely would consider buying the magazine.

From these responses a high percentage of people had said that Dance was one of their favourite genres and two names stand out that were frequently listed as their favourite artists, Lady GaGa and Calvin Harris. This shows me that the people buying magazines are into something more modern and something that is completely out of the ordinary.

Lady GaGa has not become the icon she is purely based on her music, but also on her over the top fashion style, controversial lyrics and even rumors of her being a hermaphrodite. None of this is conventional popstar behavior, she is very bold and outspoke and I feel this should be reflected in my magazine.

  1. This is certainly picking up on one of the latest trends - the outspoken and outrageous behaviour of a leading celebrity. It would be exciting to try to create something similar but with a different angle in terms of 'outrage' or 'controversy' - the 'gender-bending' antics are not particularly new to the world of music - take a look at the 1980s New Romantic movement for more on this.
